1887 did not see as many improvements as previous years to the field of sound recording. It did see the entry of one person who would change the face of sound recording very soon, Emile Berliner.
Edison to Vinyl: A History of Recorded Sound, Part III: 1886
As stated in the previous entry from late 1883 to early 1886 saw little to nothing in the way of improvements or innovation in the area of the phonograph and its like. In 1886 things change and development takes on a much brisker pace.
Edison to Vinyl: A History of Recorded Sound, Part II: 1878 – 1883
In the initial entry of this journey we looked at the original phonograph. In this entry we will take a look at a few patents aimed at improving certain aspects of the device, not only by Thomas Edison but by others as well.
Edison to Vinyl: A History of Recorded Sound, Part I
Hers is an ambitious project I am about to tackle while I get my video recording stuff into some sort of permanent set-up. I am going to look at the history of recording and reproducing sounds from Thomas Edison forward through the years, primarily in the USA as I don’t have access to some foreign patents. I will be looking mostly at patents, the breakthroughs and the failures. From the small changes to giant leaps forward, sometimes glossing over the surface, sometimes going a bit more in depth. Come join me and see if you learn anything.
Rarities: FruPoche – Genwaku Shokorabittsu
The fifth in a series of short articles highlighting some of the rarer CDs that I have been able to acquire. This entry will be rather short as information on this release is scarce. Lets see if we can find any information on FruPoche – 幻惑ショコラビッツ (Dazzling Chocolate Bits).
Rarities: JyuJyu – JyuJyu
The fourth in series of short articles highlighting some of the rarer CDs that I have been able to acquire. This entry might not be one of the rarest CDs out there but it is still not well known. A brief look at the groups “full” discography does not even hint at its existence. Lets see if we can dig up some information on じゅじゅ – 「呪呪」.
Rarities: BiS – nerve
The third in series of short articles highlighting some of the rarer CDs that I have been able to acquire. This time we will be looking at a release by the group that pretty much started it all, Brand-new Idol Society. Lets take a closer look at 「nerve」, the second single from BiS.
Rarities: Yanakoto Sotto Mute – 8CM EP
The second in series of short articles highlighting some of the rarer CDs that I have been able to acquire. This will be broken up into two section, at the top a little information about the recording and leading up to the sales of the CD. At the bottom will be a look at the CD and its packaging.
Today we will be looking at the first release by ヤなことそっとミュート (Yanakoto Sotto Mute) entitled 「8CM EP」. It was released in August of 2016 by Crimson Printing.
Rarities: Screaming Sixties – Utsusemi no Hana / Dai Sanji Botchi Sensou
This is the first in a series of short articles highlighting some of the rarer CDs that I have been able to acquire in my days of collecting. I will try to give as much information as I have been able to find on these item. Some of these will be very sparse on information as the only information available is on the disk itself or its contents.
Our first CD will be 絶叫する60度 – 空蝉の花 / 大惨事ぼっち戦争. This CD was released by Dead or Sing Records on August 1st, 2015 as a venue only exclusive and was limited to 1000 copies. It was released to commemorate the groups one year anniversary.
